Interactive Electrolyte Calculator
Saltivate started with mixing electrolytes at home. We were weighing salts, adjusting ratios, and testing batches to solve our own hydration problems. Over time, those experiments turned into a repeatable formula, and eventually into Saltivate.
We built this calculator to share that knowledge openly. The goal is to make electrolyte formulation transparent and accessible, so anyone can see how mineral targets translate into real ingredient weights. This tool is provided for free as an educational resource.
The calculator lets you design a custom electrolyte mix from raw ingredients or start from presets that match popular electrolyte brands. You can recreate familiar formulas at home, then tweak sodium, potassium, or magnesium levels to fit your own needs. Set your targets, choose your salt forms, define the batch size, and the calculator outputs exact gram weights for each compound so you can mix a precise, repeatable blend.

Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our DIY electrolyte recipe. Need more help? Chat with us using the bubble on the bottom right.
Is a homemade electrolyte drink safe for people with high blood pressure?
Our DIY drink contains a high amount of sodium. If you have high blood pressure, kidney disease or endocrine conditions, consult your clinician before increasing sodium intake and consider adjusting the recipe to lower sodium.
Can I make this drink without a scale?
Yes. Use the volume measurements provided in the recipe. For example, 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt provides roughly 800 mg sodium, 1/8 teaspoon potassium chloride provides about 240 mg potassium, and 1/8 teaspoon magnesium glycinate provides roughly 50 mg magnesium.
What natural sweeteners can I use?
We recommend stevia or monk fruit for a zero‑calorie sweetness. You can also use a small amount of honey or maple syrup if you aren’t avoiding sugar.
Can I customise the electrolyte ratios?
Absolutely. Use the calculator below to set your target sodium, potassium and magnesium levels. For general guidance see our presets.
What does the interactive calculator do?
It lets you adjust the sodium, potassium and magnesium amounts, choose different salt forms and scale the recipe to any number of servings. The tool calculates the exact grams of each compound to weigh.
How do I scale the recipe for a batch?
Use the calculator’s batch size field to multiply the per‑serving salts. For example, to make 10 servings, enter 10 and the tool will output the total grams for each salt. Mix thoroughly and divide into individual servings.
What if I don’t like orange?
You can swap the orange for other natural flavours like raspberry, lemon or watermelon. Keep the salt ratios the same and adjust sweetness to taste.
