What's the difference between first-party and third-party lab testing?
First-party testing is run in-house by the company that makes a product. Third-party testing is run by an independent, accredited laboratory with no stake in the outcome, so the product is checked impartially rather than the brand grading its own work. Wherever a lot has been verified by an independent lab, its certificate carries a green Third-party badge above.
Why does third-party testing matter?
An independent lab has no incentive to pass a batch, so its certificate is real proof rather than a promise. It confirms the label is accurate and screens for contaminants you cannot see or taste. It is the standard we hold ourselves to and the one worth looking for in any supplement.
What does each certificate test for?
Three things: label accuracy, where the sodium, potassium, magnesium, chloride, and vitamin C are measured against what the package claims; heavy metals (arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury) screened against safety limits; and microbial safety (E. coli, Salmonella, total plate count, and yeast and mold).
What is a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?
A COA is the laboratory report for a single production lot. It lists every test, the measured result for that lot, and the limit it must meet, so you can confirm exactly what is in the product you bought.
