Ginger Mule Mocktail

Your rating
Two copper mugs of ginger mule mocktail with lime, mint, and a Saltivate stick packet

A Moscow mule mocktail does not need ginger beer to taste like a mule. This one builds the classic copper-mug flavor from scratch: fresh grated ginger, plenty of lime, and cold club soda in place of the sugary stuff. A stick of Saltivate Raw Unflavored dissolves clear into the base, so each mug replaces some of the sodium you lose in sweat with a light salty note that makes the ginger and lime pop. The ginger bites first, the lime cuts through.

Ingredients

Makes 2 mocktails.

  • 1 stick pack Saltivate Raw Unflavored
  • 2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated (about 2 tbsp)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice (2 to 3 limes)
  • 16 oz (475 ml) chilled club soda
  • Ice
  • Lime wheels and mint sprigs, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Stir the grated ginger into the lime juice in a small bowl and let it steep for 5 minutes.
  2. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a measuring cup, pressing on the ginger to squeeze out every drop. Discard the solids.
  3. Add the stick of Raw Unflavored to the ginger-lime base and stir until fully dissolved.
  4. Fill two copper mugs or tall glasses with ice and divide the base between them.
  5. Top each with 8 oz (240 ml) of club soda and give one gentle stir.
  6. Garnish with a lime wheel and a mint sprig. With one stick split across roughly 18 oz (530 ml) of liquid, each mug carries half a serving of electrolytes.

Serving suggestions and variations

  • Want it sweeter? Stir 1 tsp of honey or maple syrup into each mug. The base recipe stays sugar free without it.
  • For more ginger heat, steep the grated ginger for 10 minutes instead of 5, or use a 3-inch piece.
  • The ginger-lime base keeps covered in the fridge for up to 3 days. Add the club soda just before serving so the fizz stays sharp.

Per serving: about 70 kcal (estimate).
