This sleepy girl mocktail is the simple version of the viral TikTok evening drink built on tart cherry juice and magnesium. The original calls for a spoonful of magnesium powder, which often lands chalky and bitter at the bottom of the glass. One stick of Saltivate Raw Unflavored handles the magnesium, 60mg alongside 800mg of sodium and 240mg of potassium, with a light salty edge that sharpens the tart cherry and the fizz. Mix one in the hour before bed in place of a nightcap.
Ingredients
Makes 1 mocktail, about 16 oz (475 ml).
- 1 stick Saltivate Raw Unflavored
- 4 oz (120 ml) tart cherry juice (100% juice, not a cherry drink blend)
- 12 oz (350 ml) plain sparkling water or a lemon-lime prebiotic soda
- Ice
- Optional: a squeeze of lime, fresh cherries for garnish
Instructions
- Pour the tart cherry juice into a tall glass.
- Stir in 1 stick of Saltivate Raw Unflavored until fully dissolved, about 20 seconds. It dissolves clear, so when the streaks disappear you are done.
- Fill the glass with ice.
- Top slowly with sparkling water and give it one gentle stir to keep the bubbles.
- Add a squeeze of lime and a cherry or two if you like, then drink right away while it is cold and fizzy.
Serving suggestions and variations
- Always dissolve the powder in the still juice first. Stirring it straight into sparkling water makes it foam up and over the rim.
- Pitcher version: 8 oz (240 ml) tart cherry juice, 24 oz (700 ml) sparkling water, and still just 1 stick. One Saltivate serving covers 16 to 32 oz (475 to 950 ml) of liquid, so the 32 oz pitcher works without a second stick.
- No sparkling water on hand? Use cold still water and a big squeeze of lime. The drink loses the fizz but keeps the tart cherry flavor.
