Electrolyte Hot Cocoa

Electrolyte hot cocoa sounds strange until you remember that salt and chocolate are old friends. Whisking a serving of Saltivate Raw Unflavored into warm cocoa deepens the chocolate flavor the same way a pinch of salt does in baking, while quietly adding 800mg of sodium to a mug you were going to enjoy anyway. It earns its keep after winter hikes, ski days, or any evening when an iced drink holds zero appeal, and the only sweetness is the honey you stir in yourself.

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Whisk cocoa and honey into warm milk.
  2. Stir in a serving of Raw Unflavored until smooth.
  3. Sip warm.

Per serving: about 180 kcal, 24g carbs, 21g sugar.

Serving suggestions and variations

  • Darker cup. An extra teaspoon of cocoa powder makes it more bittersweet, closer to salted dark chocolate.
  • Mocha version. Replace a third of the milk with strong hot coffee.
  • Sweeter cup. Maple syrup swaps in for the honey at the same amount.
