Sparkling Watermelon Spritzer

This sparkling watermelon electrolyte spritzer layers watermelon three ways: fresh muddled fruit at the bottom of the glass, a serving of Saltivate Watermelon for flavor and 800mg of sodium, and cold sparkling water for lift. The mix has zero sugar and no stevia, so the only sugars come from the fruit itself, and the muddled watermelon makes it taste fresh rather than candy flavored. Pour it on hot summer afternoons or serve it as the mocktail at a barbecue.

Ingredients

  • 1 serving Watermelon
  • 10 oz (300 ml) sparkling water
  • 4.2 oz (120 g) fresh watermelon cubes
  • 4 leaves Fresh mint

Steps

  1. Muddle a few watermelon cubes in the glass.
  2. Stir in the Saltivate serving with a splash of water.
  3. Add ice and top with sparkling water.
  4. Finish with mint.

Per serving: about 45 kcal, 11g carbs, 8g sugar.

Serving suggestions and variations

  • Frozen melon. Use frozen watermelon cubes in place of some ice so the drink never waters down.
  • Lime edge. A squeeze of lime sharpens the melon.
  • Chilled glass. Ten minutes in the freezer helps the spritzer hold its fizz.
