Salty Palmer

Your rating
Two glasses of salty palmer iced tea lemonade with a Saltivate stick packet on a napkin

This Arnold Palmer takes the classic half iced tea, half lemonade pour and adds back the sodium you lose in sweat. Strong black tea and fresh lemon are bold enough to carry a pinch of salt, and a stick of Saltivate Raw Unflavored dissolves clear, adding a light salty edge that sharpens the tart lemon. Each serving brings 800mg sodium, 240mg potassium, and 60mg magnesium with zero sugar and zero calories, and the first sip lands tart, lightly sweet, and quietly saline.

Ingredients

Makes 2 large glasses, about 16 oz (475 ml) each. One stick split across the pitcher works out to half a serving of electrolytes per glass.

  • 1 stick Saltivate Raw Unflavored
  • 2 cups (475 ml) strong black tea, brewed and chilled (2 tea bags per 2 cups of water)
  • 2 cups (475 ml) lemonade, store-bought or fresh
  • Ice, for serving
  • 2 lemon wheels and a sprig of mint, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 cups (475 ml) of strong black tea with 2 tea bags, steeping 4 to 5 minutes. Chill in the fridge, or stir over a few ice cubes until cold.
  2. Combine the chilled tea and lemonade in a pitcher.
  3. Add 1 stick of Saltivate Raw Unflavored and stir until fully dissolved, about 30 seconds.
  4. Fill two tall glasses with ice, pour, and garnish each with a lemon wheel and a few mint leaves, if using.

Serving suggestions and variations

  • For fresh lemonade, stir 1/3 cup (80 ml) lemon juice with 2 to 3 tbsp sugar, to taste, and 1 1/2 cups (350 ml) cold water until the sugar dissolves.
  • Decaf black tea or green tea both work if you are mixing this late in the day.
  • The pitcher keeps covered in the fridge for up to 2 days. Stir before pouring.

Per serving: about 100 kcal (estimate).
