This blueberry orange smoothie skips the juice entirely. One stick of Saltivate Orange supplies the citrus, so the orange flavor runs through every sip instead of sitting on top, and the same glass carries 800mg of sodium, 240mg of potassium, and 60mg of magnesium. Frozen blueberries, banana, and Greek yogurt give it a thick, creamy body that holds a spoon upright for a second before it settles. The flavor lands lightly salty-sweet against the berries, closer to a creamsicle than a juice bar smoothie. It takes about five minutes of hands-on time with a blender and makes one 20 oz smoothie, right in the 16 to 32 oz range one serving is built for. Drink it after a sweaty workout or as a fast breakfast on a hot morning.
Ingredients
Makes one 20 oz smoothie, with one full serving of electrolytes.
- 1 cup frozen blueberries
- 1 frozen banana, broken into chunks
- 1/2 cup (120 g) plain Greek yogurt
- 1 cup (240 ml) milk of your choice
- 1 stick Saltivate Orange
- 1/2 cup ice, if you like it extra cold
Instructions
- Pour the milk into the blender and add the Saltivate Orange stick. Blend for a few seconds so the powder dissolves fully.
- Add the Greek yogurt, frozen blueberries, banana, and the ice, if using.
- Blend on high for 45 to 60 seconds, until smooth and no berry skins remain. Scrape down the sides once if needed.
- Pour into a tall glass and drink right away while it is thick and cold.
Tips
- Dairy-free? Swap the milk and yogurt for unsweetened almond or oat milk and add a few extra ice cubes to keep the texture thick.
- No frozen banana on hand? Use a fresh one plus an extra 1/2 cup of ice and blend a little longer.
- Leftovers keep covered in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir before drinking, since the blueberry pulp settles.
One stick of Saltivate Orange is the only citrus this recipe needs: zero sugar, no stevia, and it replaces the sodium you lose in sweat. Keep a box of 30 sticks next to the blender.
